On Display: Kathleen Connor

Kathleen Connor grew up in Geneva, NY and is a longtime resident of Canandaigua. She enjoys painting
and exhibiting at the Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery, Ontario County and Yates County Arts Councils. Kathleen
finds the oil medium to be her most enjoyable as a creative outlet. She has had several solo exhibits around the area. Plein air painting continues to be a rewarding endeavor. She has competed in several Plein Air Festivals and was a past committee member for the Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival.

Kathleen graduated from Nazareth College with a master’s degree in art education and special education.
She spent her undergraduate years at RIT. Before retirement and a full life of creative painting, Kathleen
worked as an elementary Art Teacher in the Midlakes CSD.

She has traveled to Italy to paint en plein air under g.a. Sheller; Paris and the South of France, and
Monhegan Island under the instruction of Stan Moeller. She continued working under David Lussier, Lori
Putnam, Nancy Tankersley, Sara Polly and George VanHook, all highly respected plein air artists and
judges during the Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival. Kathleen’s most recent travels took her to Santiago and
Barcelona, Spain, walking the El Camino Trail, and just recently explored the North and Southwestern U.S.
National Parks. Experience has taught Kathleen that the Finger Lakes are unsurpassed for beauty and
scenery.

All these travels inspire Kathleen’s paintings, especially when finding and following light, with creativity in
design, and finally when enjoying a painting that feels right. Every painter ultimately desires awareness
that a work is finally finished. It is then a true sense of personal accomplishment.
